In NSW public schools, all financial contributions are voluntary. Every student has full access to the curriculum, regardless of whether contributions are made.

Kindergarten SmoothStart Transition
At Tharawal Public School, we highly value providing a smooth and positive start to school. Our SmoothStart Transition Program supports children and families by working in partnership with parents and carers, preschools and teachers to ensure every child feels confident and ready for Kindergarten.
Our transition to school includes:
- Welcome interviews: New parents and students are invited to meet with our Principal, Mrs Lilly Morabito, for a personalised welcome and a guided tour of our school.
- Preschool connections: We engage in professional conversations with preschool educators and conduct on-site observation visits when needed to support each child’s transition.
- Local preschool visits: We invite our local preschools to visit throughout the year, offering additional transition experiences that add a personalised touch and help build strong early connections between home and school.
- Parent Information Evening: Held prior to the commencement of our transition program, this session helps families become familiar with Tharawal’s values, routines and learning environment.
- Transition mornings: Across three mornings in Term 4, our future Kindergarten students join in classroom experiences while parents attend information sessions in the school hall.
- Graduation assembly: We celebrate our future Tharawal stars with a special assembly marking the completion of their transition journey.
Together, we make the start of school a joyful and confident beginning for every child.
